Workshop with the Puppeteers Cooperative
Sara Peattie of Boston’s Puppeteers Cooperative brings her special magic to a weeklong workshop, culminating in a Pageant onstage at Fairlee Town Hall Theater on Friday evening.
Create masks, giant puppets and wearable creatures from simple everyday materials at daily afternoon sessions (2-4pm), and use them in a performance Friday evening at 6pm. Each person will create a personal mask or puppet and assist in constructing several larger than life-sized puppets.
For over 30 years Puppeteers Cooperative and Lending Library has been based in the basement of Emmanuel Church on Newbury St. in Boston, Mass. Sara Peattie has led workshops, pageants and parades all over the US. She leads a two-week workshop for the Governor’s Council for the Arts in Castleton, VT every summer, culminating in a parade on the fourth of July. Her section of Boston’s First Night parade: puppets, banners and this year a giant brightly colored, illuminated “Worm” is always a notable feature.
