The short will be portions of The Lost World (1925) the first film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel about a land where prehistoric creatures still roam.
Our feature will be The General (1926) with Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Glen Cavender
Storyline: After being rejected by the Confederate military, not realizing it was due to his crucial civil role, an engineer must single-handedly recapture his beloved locomotive after it is seized by Union spies and return it through enemy lines.
“The General is simultaneously a slapstick comedy and a thrilling Civil War epic produced on a lavish scale. Entire armies are shown on the march (played by hundreds of Oregon National Guardsmen), and the biggest stunt is a locomotive wreck that wouldn’t be topped until David Lean’s The Bridge over the River Kwai thirty years later.”
