Online Concert – Samantha Moffatt
Samantha Moffatt offers solo concerts, ambiance music, and lecture-demonstrations on the hammered dulcimer. She specializes in Celtic and French melodies, as well as the folk music of Northern New England and Quebec. A teacher, interpreter, and composer as well, she is well-known in the Upper Valley as a solo and ensemble musician who captures listeners’ attention.
Samantha appeared twice on “A Prairie Home Companion” with the 90s duo “Wintergreen”. She worked for fifteen years as an Artist-in-Residence, teaching in over 100 schools, with the Vermont Council on the Arts. She has recorded five albums, and currently appears with three performing ensembles Vermont and Quebec. An advocate of the aural tradition, Samantha has studied extensively with master musicians in France, Quebec, the Caribbean, and the U.S.; she teaches hammered dulcimer students in the same tradition. An experienced vocalist, she performs traditional jazz and gypsy-musette with “Guinguette Trio”. Sam lives in Vershire, Vermont.
